Beer: If you’re blue, Blue Points for you.

Roses are red, Blue Point beer is not blue, if you want a Summer beer, this one for you. 🙂 Yes, that is a Workoutdrinkbemerry original poem , but it is not copyrighted, you can use it. Summer is almost over so catch it while you can.

Looking over the bar at my local dispensary. I look to see what is fresh on tap. I ask my local brew mistress, “what’s new?!” I ask with a real inquisitive tone. “Well, we just got in Blue Point Summer Ale, want to give her a try?” she ask. I say yes. “Good choice” she joyfully exclaims. It’s my first Blue Point. “There’s a first for everything, enjoy.” I said I will. So let’s enjoy.

Cold, (kudos to Paddy Dugan), a deep copper tone, wheat beer appearance, heady, good-looking blonde brew. Let’s dive in. A good nose, notes of nuts, toasted hops and slight citrus smell. The first taste, good crisp slightly sweet, but not cherry wheat beer sweet, a slight tart after taste, good. It has a 4.39% alcohol by volume (ABV) and 16 International Bitter Unit (IBU). This seems like one of those, one too many beers or “over served”, because it was so easy to drink, in a good way. Great color and flavor.

A little history. Blue Point Toasted Lager beer is a product brewed on Long Island, New York since 1998. Two friends Mark Burford and Peter Cotter, decided to open a micro brewery on the south shore of Long Island. They began by looking for a location to brew. What they found was this picturesque location on the waterfront of Patchogue, Long Island.

They then began purchasing their brewing equipment. They began in Maryland, at a recently closed down brewery, the Wild Goose Brewery and other auctions from around the United States. After a series of events on the island by the Blue Point Brewery, their popularity grew. They recently celebrated 10 years of Blue Point Brewing Company.

If you’re looking to try something new. Looking to enjoy a cold one with family and friends this beer is for you. I give it four out of five stars! Labor day is around the corner.

P.S. I would pair it with a mild cigar. A Oliva, Series G maduro, medium body cigar, would be a nice complement.

“Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
– Benjamin Franklin

Give it a try let me know your thoughts. As always, Workout, drink be merry.
